German

German

Germany is a land steeped in history and culture, having borne witness to numerous major events in modern history. It has been and still is a purveyor of excellence in several fields, including business, technology, literature, music and arts. Knowledge of the German language is a definite advantage given that German is the most widely spoken language in Europe with over 100 million native speakers.

Many people say that learning German is a difficult task. But did you know that both English and German originated from the same source – the Germanic language.

It is actually relatively easy to learn German, especially when one knows one’s way around the English language.

There are several reasons why it’s a good idea to learn German, ranging from linguistic interests to the pursuit of studies or a career in Europe, where the language is most widely spoken. Here are some benefits that can be derived from the learning process:

  • Germany is a vital hub of technology and innovation. It is also a centre of learning for music and arts. The country figures prominently in the international business scene as it is home to many multinational companies. Businessmen, executives, researchers and job seekers have the chance to rub shoulders with the best talents in this country or in any other German speaking region if they are versed in the German language.
  • Students stand to benefit from learning the German language because many undergraduate and graduate programmes either require or recommend learning German in order to be able to follow and enjoy key lectures and texts composed by eminent German professors across a multitude of disciplines.
  • As Germany is known for its art and culture, learning German also helps language enthusiasts to appreciate works of literature and music, offering invaluable insights into the Germanic mindset through knowledge of the native tongue. This is especially pertinent when one considers that only 10 per cent of German books are translated into English.
  • Knowing German can be of great practical use. It can be used to help anyone visiting Germany or Europe, to find their way around a new place or to catch up with friends and indulge in casual conversation.
French

French

Language is one of the greatest displays of the diversity of the world. Thousands of tongues are spoken across the world, each unique in orthography, grammar, and pronunciation. Many people are drawn to language learning. Some people begin foreign language studies due to their interest in a particular tongue, whilst others see benefits in language acquisition but struggle to make a choice. The French language is one possible option.

No other language has developed such diverging learning-related stereotypes as French. Some of those who learn French believe their studies are accompanied by a romanticised feel; others claim that learning French is hard and dull. However, all stereotypes come from personal perspectives and tastes. Facts, on the other hand, remain what they are. Knowledge of the French language has many benefits.

You have all probably heard the term ‘lingua franca’ and know its meaning. Ask this question: why does it seem so linguistically foreign to English? The answer is simple: It came from French. This example is very symbolic; it demonstrates the importance of the French language in cross-border communication. Countries where French is an official language can can be congregated into a long row. The French-speaking world consists of France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, Canada, former French colonies in Africa, the Caribbean, and Oceania. If you are going on holiday or on a work-related task to any of these countries, even knowledge of basic French will help you get around more easily.

You can also improve your chances of finding a good job by learning French. This is a language of international politics, media, and business. Nowadays, commercial relations have become globally interwoven, and you can see by browsing job adverts that many positions request fluency in a foreign language, French being one of the most common ones.

However, there is another feature that lures people to this tongue. The language of Voltaire and Dumas, Georges Bizet and Louis de Funes, French has given the world a wonderful collection of works of literature, philosophy, music, and film. Many learn French in order to gain greater familiarity with French culture.

Russian

Russian

Spoken across the Russian Federation and Belarus, as well as in many countries of the former Soviet Union, Russian is in use across a larger geographical area than any other European language. It is also the second most widely used language on the internet, after English, and has over a thousand years of history behind it. Making the effort to learn Russian can unlock a huge and significant part of the world’s culture, allowing not only conversation with Russian speakers, but a greater understanding of Russian art and literature. The end of the Cold War has brought new opportunities for trade in eastern Europe, so company owners and employees who speak Russian, or are prepared to take Russian lessons, are often better placed to develop their business or career.

Like English, Russian is part of the Indo-European family of languages, although Russian is part of the Slavic branch, while English is in the Germanic group. The most obvious difference between the two languages is that Russian uses the Cyrillic alphabet, but there are also several key differences between Russian and English grammar. In English, the meaning of a sentence is conveyed by word order, while in Russian, the words in the sentence are modified by using a different inflection, or by adding a suffix or prefix. It is also hard to predict which syllable of a Russian word is stressed, so this has to be learned by listening and practising.

Russian is perceived by many English speakers as a difficult language to learn, mainly due to the Cyrillic alphabet. However, many of the letters in the Cyrillic alphabet are pronounced similarly to their equivalent in English, and the characters can even look similar. Russian spelling is largely phonetic, so there are fewer differences between spelling and pronunciation than in English.

Italian

Italian

The Italian language is considered to be one of the most melodic languages in the world. When you listen to Italians speak, it is almost as if they are singing. No wonder their nation gave birth to such masters of opera.

If you are considering learning a second (or third, fourth…) language and you still haven’t mastered Italian, it would probably be your best choice. The Italian language is not only spoken by over 85 million people in the world; it also has a rich history and sounds beautiful. It is the language of the most famous lovers, Romeo and Juliet, and the native tongue of some of the most famous painters, writers and musicians of all time. Of course, this is not enough to devote much of your free time to learning Italian. But watching at least one movie in this Romance language would probably make you want to learn Italian as fast as possible.

Learning Italian can only benefit you. With so many children in European schools choosing to learn the Italian language, it is definitely an asset worth having. It is not as universal as English, but it can help you meet and communicate with many people across Europe. Also, employers love having multilingual employees. Adding the Italian language to your set of skills will help you rank better while searching for jobs.

Portuguese

Portuguese

Portuguese Language (Português Or língua portuguesa)
Portuguese is a Romance language spoken by about 220 million people mainly in Portugal and Brazil (Brasil), and also in Angola, Mozambique (Moçambique), Cape Verde (Cabo Verde), Guinea-Bissau (Guiné-Bissau), São Tomé e Principe, East Timor (Timor-Leste), Equatorial Guinea and Macau. There are also communities of Portuguese speakers in Goa, Daman and Diu in India, and in Malacca in Malaysia.

Not everyone in the world speaks English. The Portuguese language is the eighth most spoken language in the world. It makes sense to learn Portuguese because after English and Spanish, it is the third most spoken European language in the world. Many words in Portuguese are shared with the five Romance languages, which are languages that originate from Latin. It is not that difficult to learn Portuguese. In fact, you know some words from the Portuguese language already, such as flamingo and cobra. The Portuguese language originated in Europe but most of the world’s Portuguese speaking people live in South America.

Why learn Portuguese?

  • To realize business opportunities in Portugal or South America.
  • To be able to travel around those countries independently and not rely on the usual offerings from tour operators.
  • A unique skill for your CV.
  • Learn a new skill and keep your brain active.
Arabic

Arabic

Learning Arabic is of great importance because Gulf countries have abundant job openings. They have worked for all types of qualifications which is why you will find people of various academic skills working in the gulf countries. Countries like UAE and Saudi Arabia are famous for their oil wells and jobs related to oil industries. The biggest oil company in the world, Saudi Aramco has thousands of people working there round the clock. There is a need for skilled engineers and technicians for various jobs. When such companies look for employees, they will always give priority to those who can converse in the local language which is Arabic. This makes it easier to communicate with the workers. From construction sites to oil refineries, there is a need for people who are highly educated. The local natives of these gulf countries are Arabic speaking, which is why it is so important to learn Arabic so that interacting with them is a lot more convenient. If you learn Arabic you can give instructions to your subordinates in that language. It will make the work easier and help in developing a rapport with them, which will help in the overall business and smooth working of the company.

Spanish

Spanish

Spanish is one of the world’s most popular languages, with over 400 million people speaking the language worldwide. It is the official language of 21 countries, including Spain, Cuba and Puerto Rico, and the Spanish language is the primary language of other major countries, including Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.

Spanish is gaining importance in Europe, where it is often the foreign language of choice after English. Spanish is the second world language as a vehicle of international communication and the third as an international language of politics, economics and culture.

One of the primary benefits of learning Spanish is the vast amount of places it can be used, enabling people to communicate effectively while travelling.

In addition, the increased presence of latino culture in the United States and the promise of retirement to a warmer climate have both contributed to making the Spanish language one of the fastest growing foreign languages on the planet.

As a result, many other people choose to learn Spanish because it is a great way to boost employment prospects. The increase in the Spanish-speaking population makes learning Spanish extremely beneficial, especially in the global business-driven world we live in, as there will be a constant need for Spanish translators and interpreters.

Others simply choose to learn Spanish as a hobby; and given the benefits listed above, it is clearly a pretty useful hobby to take up.

Interpretation

Interpretation

Our interpreters have the expertise in your specific area of subject matter.
We make sure our interpreters are carefully screened, certified and trained in industry requirements. Each interpreter has the knowledge and experience to accurately convey complex subject matter from English into another language. They must be able to flawlessly render precise communication in both the source language and English. .As cultural issues play a significant role, the standards for choosing an on-site interpreter must include more than just fluency in another language. They’re not simply providing word-for-word interpretation; they’re ensuring meanings come across loud and clear.

Translation

Translation

At this point, a word of warning: translation is much more difficult than it looks. Many companies spend hours deliberating over the precise wording of their sales literature to ensure maximum impact. Yet, the very same companies often entrust the task of translation to a non-native speaker, a student, or, worse still, a machine! When you realise, though, that 56.2 per cent of customers consider information in their own language to be more important than price , you realise that the job is best left to a professional company that will show the same level of care and skill when recreating your message in the foreign language.
